The steps involved in the application review process depend on your application type. Multiple discussions with the City of Surrey Planning Department team may be necessary, and the duration of the process will vary based on your application’s complexity.

1. Review and Revise Your Application

The Surrey Land Development Team examines your application and may request additional information or revisions. You’ll need to hire consultants to address requirements such as subdivision layout, site plan, and other documents. Depending on the project, you might also need to submit additional studies.

Internal Referral Groups: Various city departments, such as Land Development Engineering, Legal Services, and others.

Council-Appointed Groups: Advisory Design Panel, Heritage Advisory Commission, Agriculture and Food Security Advisory Committee.

External Referrals: Neighbourhood Associations, BC Hydro, FortisBC, Ministry of Transportation, School District #36.

2. Receive the Engineering Review

The Engineering Department conducts a review of the Land Development Application, outlining engineering requirements for the project.

3. Notify the Community of Your Development

Inform the community of your development application through methods like pre-notification letters, development proposal signs, and public information meetings, based on the type of application.

4. Present Your Land Development Application Planning Report to Council

Work with the Area Planner to resolve outstanding issues. The Area Planner prepares and forwards a Planning Report to Council for consideration at a Regular Council – Land Use meeting.
